Acromantula

A
monstrous 8-eyes spider capable of human speech and very
intelligent but untrainable and carnivourous. Aragog is
an acromantula.
Ashwinder
M.O.M Classification: XXX
A thin pale-grey serpent with glowing red eyes, an ashwinder
rises from the embers of deserted fires and lives only for
an hour. Its eggs are used to make Love Potions.
Augurey (aka Irish Pheonix)
M.O.M Classification: XX
A
thin and mournful looking bird, resembling a greenish-black
vulture. The Augurey sings with a chilling wail when rain
is coming and its feathers are used for quills as they repel
ink.
B
Banshee

Classification: Not specified.
The
banshee is a creature that resembles a woman, with floot-length
black hair and a green-tinged face. Banshees let out long
shrieking screams which make the hair on the back of one's
neck stand on end.
Basilisk
M.O.M Classification: XXXXX
A
brilliant green serpent which may reach up to 50 feet in
length, the Basilisk's stare is deadly and its fangs highly
venomous. It can be controlled only by Parseltongues and
is hatched from a chicken egg nestled beneath a toad.
Billywig
M.O.M Classification: XXX
A
half-an-inch vivid saphire-blue insect found in Australia,
the Billywig's wings spin attatched to the top of its head.
Those who have been stung by a Billywig suffer giddiness
followed by levitation. It is believed the popular sweet
Fizzing Whizzbees is made from Billywig stings.
Blast-Ended
Skrewts

Blast-Ended
Screwts look like a cross between a lobster and a scorpion
and grow up to 6-feet long. They have thick armour, stings
and tails which shoot off emmitting jets of fire.
Boggart
M.O.M Classification: Not specified.
A
shape-shifter, the Boggart hides in dark, inclosed spaces
like cupboards and draws and assumes the shape of whatever
it think will frighten the person it sees most. It can be
extinguished by thinking of the Boggart altered and funny-looking
and saying 'Ridiculus!' - the laughter that follows will
get rid of it.
Bowtruckle

An
emensely shy and tiny tree-guardian apprently made of bark
which eats insects and only attacks if its tree is threatened.
The trees Bowtruckles inhabit are know it be particularly
good for wand-wood.
Bundimun
M.O.M Classification: XXX
The
Bundidum resembles a patch of greenish fungus with eyes,
it infests houses, living under the floorboards and secrets
a liquid which stinks and rots away the foundation of the
house - though it is also used in magical cleaning fluids.

Centaur
M.O.M Classification: XXXXX*
The
centaur has a human head, torso and arms joined to a horse's
body and comes in various colours. Centaurs are extremely
intelligent, capable of human speech and busy themselves
mostly with magical healing, astronomy, archery and divination,
though they keep away from humans generally and keep their
knowledge to themselves. They live in herds in forests.
Chimaera

A
rare Greek monster with a lion's head, goat's body and dragon's
tail. The Chimaera is vicious and bloodthirsty and was only
ever once slain.
Chizpurfle
M.O.M Classification: XX
Miniscule
crab-like insects with relatively large fangs, they infest
the fur of creatures such as Augureys and Crups and also
linger in dirty cauldron and wand cores (when they work
their way in) - one can get rid of them using various magical
pest removal substances.
Clabbert

Looking
like something in between a monkey and frog, this tree-dwelling
creature has a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and feeds
on small lizards and birds. Its most distinctive feature
is a pussy knob in the middle of its forehead which flashes
red when it senses danger.
Crup
M.O.M Classification: XXX
A
wizard-created dog which closely resembles a Jack-Russle
dog, except that its tail is forked. It is a popular wizarding
pet being very loyal and able to blend in relatively easily
with Muggle dogs.

Demiguise
M.O.M Classification: XXXX
A
peaceful, shy, herbivorious and very rare beast something
like an ape in appearance with a silvery, silky coat. Demiguises
are found in the Far East and their pelts are spun into
invisibilty cloaks.
Diricawl
M.O.M Classification: XX
A
plump bodied, fluffy feathered, flightless bird. It can
vanish in a puff or feathers and reappear elsewhere instantaneously.
Muggles were once fully aware of this bird, though it was
known to them as the Dodo and believe it now to be extinct,
not knowing that it can vanish at will.
Doxy

Often
mistaken for fairies, Doxies are covered in black hair and
have an extra pair of arms and legs. Doxies are pests whose
bites are painful.
Dragon
M.O.M Classification: XXXXX
The
most well-known of all magical beasts, Dragons' organs have
hihgly magical properties. They came in many different breeds:
-
Antipodean Opaleye: considered the most beatiful
of dragons, this breed lives in Australiasia.
- Chinese Fireball: An oriental dragon with a fringe
of golden spikes around its face and which emits a mushroom
shaped flame.
- Common Welsh Green: One of the least troublesome
of dragon breeds.
- Hebridean Black: Native to Britain, this breed
has brilliant purple eyes and razor sharp ridges along its
back.
- Hungarian Horntail: The most dangerous of dragon
breeds, the Horntail is very lizard like in appearance with
yellow eyes and thick black scales. It's fire-shooting range
is very far and its tail is lines with sharp spikes.
- Norwegian Ridgeback: The Ridgback resembles a Horntail
in apperance except that it has ridges along its back instead
of spikes. It is very rare.
- Peruvian Vipertooth: The smallest of all known
dragons with copper coloured ridge markings.
- Romanian Longhorn: The Longhorn has dark-green
scales and glittering golden horns. Its horns are very valuable
in potions and there have therefore been restriction put
in place to protect the Longhorn which is hunted for its
horns.
- Swedish Shortsnout: An attractive silvery-blue
dragon whose skin is sort after for the manufacture of gloves
and shields.
- Ukranian Ironbelly: The largest breed of dragon,
the Ironbelly is known to reach weights was 8 tons and is
extremely dangerous.

A
marsh-dwelling creature resembling a piece of dead wood.
It has finned paws and sharp teeth, it feeds on small mammals
but its favourite prey is the Mandrake.

Erkling
M.O.M Classification: XXXX
Gnome-like
creatures with pointed faces and high-pitched cackles, found
in Germany. The Erkling attempts to lure children away with
its enchanting cackle and then eat them. Erklings are strictly
monitered by the German Ministry of Magic so that they do
not harm people.
Erumpent
M.O.M Classification: XXXX
Similar
in appearance to the Rhinocerous, the Erumpent is found
in Africa, has a thick hide that repels most curses a horn
so sharp that it can pierce anything from flesh to metal.
Its horn contains a deadly fluid that causes anything injected
with it to explode.

Fairy
M.O.M Classification: XX
Tiny,
humanoid, vain, decorative creatures
of little intelligence, the fairy posseses its own wings
and a weak brand of magic that deters predators such as
the Augurey. Fairies are often conjured up by wizards for
decoration.
Fire-Crab
M.O.M Classification: XXX
Resembling
a tortoise with a heavily jewelled shell, the Fire Crab
is quite harmless but shoots flames from its rear end when
provoked. It's native to Figi and its shell is highly prized.
Flobberworm
M.O.M Classification: X
A
thick brown worm which lives in dam ditches and eats nothing
lettuce and vegetation. It moves very little. Extremely
boring creatue. It's mucus is sometimes used in potions.
Fwooper
M.O.M Classification: XXX
An
African bird with vivid plumage and brilliantly patterned
eggs. The Fwooper's song will eventually drice a person
to insanity and the bird is consequently sold with a Silencing
Charm. A licence must be obtained to own one.

Ghoul
M.O.M Classification: XX
Resembling
a slimy, buck-toothed ogre, ghouls usually reside in atticks
and barns where it feeds on spiders and moths. It moans
and occasionally throws objects but is quite harmless to
wizards. Muggles find ghouls very alarming and a Ghoul Task
Force Team has therefore been set up by the Ministry to
removed them from Muggle homes.

There are several different breeds of Winged Horse:

Abraxan: powerful giant palominos
- Aethonan: chestnut, found in great numbers in Britain
and Ireland
- Granian: grey and fast
- Thestral: very rare, black and skeletal looking
(quite alarming in apperance), immensely loyal creatures,
winged (posses the abilility to fly and to carry people
on their backs), gentle and silent. Attracted by fresh meat.
Thestrals can only be seen by those that have seen death
- they are invisible to everyone else. Thestrals pull the
carraiges at Hogwarts.
